My One True Commentary
Big Damn Commentaries' very own webmaster -- The One True b!X -- finally found the time to record his own commentary for the film.
Description:
First, let me make sure to point out that the title here is My One True Commentary. That word is "my" and not "the" -- just in case anyone thinks I was trying to be so egotistical as to think I'd recorded The One True Commentary.
At any rate, it of course has been my intention since before launching this site to record my own audio commentary for the movie, and I managed to not be the first to do so, since a quartet of podcasters beat me to it.
I haven't actually listened to this yet (I only just finished recording it), and since I held off on listening to the podcasters' commentary, I'll probably listen to that one first. But after all I've written on the various boards as well as my own websites, my commentary at least finally is recorded and made available.
Note: You should start playing this commentary not when you click the "Play" icon on your the DVD's main menu, but when you first hear the music which accompanies the Universal logo at the start of the film.

Comments
For the record, I should state that approximately thirty minutes after recording this, I remembered two rather important things I had intended to absolutely not forget to talk about, and of course I had forgotten to talk about them.
Oops.

I look forward to not hearing about them when I finally get a chance to listen to this :)

Ah, I see that the Q&A on the Aussie edition of the DVD appears to answer one of the questions I raised in my commentary.
I had wondered aloud about Inara reaching down to touch Kaylee's shoulder when Jayne explodes with his, "Hey, I'm talkin' at you!" Specifically, I wondered whether that gesture was Morena's idea or Joss' direction.
In fact, in the Q&A, Joss talks about the lack of dialogue between Inara and Kaylee in the movie, and makes reference to asking them to stand next to each other or touch each other, a sort of shorthand for their friendship.
So I guess that one has an answer.

Great commentary, TOTB. You inspired me to do my own.

Finally listened to this last night. It's crazy how you can get so wrapped up in the action and dialogue that you hardly notice things - such as the giant circular bulkhead type thing in the cargo bay!

I just finished listening to this, as well as the commentary you did for "Ariel". I enjoyed both of them thoroughly and hope we get to hear from you some more.
Do you write up any notes or do dry runs before you record a commentary or is it all 'on the fly'?

I do them on the fly.
Which is precisely why my movie commentary missed one interesting story I meant to tell, and one important rant about metaphor/allergy at the end.

I did the exact same thing in my BDM commentary. I completely forgot to mention what I thought was the most important little nugget of insight into the film that I had *slaps himself*
