Beware Redheads, Mulled Wine, And The Danger Flute
Yet one more commentary submitted back in April, as I continue the weekend's activity of getting previously-submitted but never-posted commentaries added to this site, in the lead-up to adding some new ones that have come in over the past month, out of nowhere.
Description:
As one of my favorite episodes, I've probably watched this one more than any other. At first it was purely out of admiration for the humor and, truth be told, the performance of Christina Hendricks. But after viewing it a few times I began to notice the way plot elements and themes were neatly planted and cultivated, how even the smallest moments all served the greater whole--and I gained a whole new appreciation for it.
In this commentary I discuss stuff like story structure and thematic elements, but hopefully it's enlightening and not dull like something you endured in high school English class.
I've recorded this with iPod listeners in mind, since I happen to listen to commentaries at work and know many people probably do the same (don't they?). But there is of course the means to watch along with the DVD although I recommend turning down the sound of your TV, as the syncing is rarely perfect and I allowed for background sound from the show to play softly in the background.
Recorded with a MXL microphone through a Eurorack UB802, using Sony Vegas.
After a short intro there's a countdown to select PLAY EPISODE on the DVD.
